4-460 PETer The sustainable safety shoe. The production of the PETer only causes half as much CO 2 emissions as a conventional S3 safe- ty shoe made of leather. Also the production of a running shoe caused over 40%* more green- house gas emissions than the PETer. The saving in CO 2 emissions at the production of 1,000 CLIMATE-FRIENDLY pairs of the PETer compared to a S3 safety shoe made of leather corresponds to* • the annual carbon footprint of a German citizen • a distance of 36,500 km by car • the production of 955 kg of beef. The tongue is padded with sheep’s wool. The wool comes from sheep in the North of the Nether- lands which are used to maintain the landscape. The foam of the insole includes to 90% polyurethane production residues. The shock absorbing heel wedge of the sole contains to 100% polyurethane production scraps. Recycled material from 2 ½ plastic bottles is used for the production of the lining and upper of a pair in size 42. The lining consists of 60% recycled PET.
